The Hook in Absecon

We had dinner here on our first night in AC and talk about an amazing way to start a vacation! The food was scrumptious ! I've never had seafood cooked so perfectly and the owner/chef (whose name I believe is Glenn) has such charisma that it made the experience that much more fun! Don't let the small exterior fool you, the food is bigger, better and fresher than any big-chained restaurant you have ever been to. Planning on going back and checking out breakfast and lunch.

The Hook is the best hole in the wall you’ll ever go too. The food is 10/10 and for seafood is extremely cheap. My $12 flounder sandwich was better than any over priced seafood place I’ve been too. Definitely will be back for more.

Good spot for an early breakfast. Glen the owner is always coming up w/ new specials. Breakfast meats are of an above average quality. Friendly crowd.

Exceptional food. Great service from Summer and Glenn the owner and chef , made us a wonderful lunch. I was with my brother Michael IRS said he loved it. Stay tuned. Sadly they are closing this Sun for good. The good news is that Glenn will still be catering.

Great extremely fresh and bountiful seafood in omelettes and eggs Benedict options. So glad we tried this cash only establishment with the freshest, purest New England Clam chowder that was lucky for us made to order. Loved the French Toast that was made with Challah bread. Amazing breakfast/lunch options. Looking forward to returning.

Glen and Danielle are wonderful! They are pleasant, welcoming, attentive and have a wonderful menu. You get to have everything prepared fresh and exactly the way you like it. The portions are hearty and seasoned to perfection. I've found my new favorite Atlantic City breakfast spot!

We loved this place... You will too if you know what you're stepping into...It is a trailer with 6 tables, one waitress, and a guy who is cooking food for you in an open kitchen. The menu actually had some pretty unique options, and the cook offered to make custom dishes for people who came in and we're looking for something specific. Wife had the Shrimp and Crab Benedict... Amazing.I had the Scallop and Spinach Omelette... Very yummy!No view. No frills. Just good local food.

Quality is not related to size, and this place proves that! Some of the best food I have ever had. Good company as well. Glen is a very nice fellow.

Had the lobster cheese steak. A little salty and over priced with the amount of lobster you get on the cheese steak. Took a little long to get our meal because it was only one cook that day. I was told they had a call in. Very nice people though. I'll give it another shot an see how it goes.

Awesome local spot. Staff is great. The owner is a really nice guy. They let you substitute anything to fit your needs. Defiantly try it out. Really great place

We didn’t want another hotel restaurant meal in Atlantic City so we looked for a breakfast spot on our way home. The Hook was the perfect spot. A delicious breakfast, great service in a small homey spot. I wish we lived closer so we could visit more often. Thank you Glen!

We love this restaurant! Authentic cooking, fresh ingredients, unpretentious with a focus on food! We have an excellent appetizers - scallops - and two delicious entrees - a fish dish and a seafood pasta. It is nestled off the beaten track and well worth a visit. The chef/proprietor is very friendly and offers samples of other sauces and things he makes. Truly an artist in the kitchen and I love that he has his own garden.

This place never has everything on the menu the one time we were there he had to run out to get eggs. It's a breakfast place how can you not have eggs? If you're undecided about what you want the owner is going to ask you about everything on the menu .. if you want it once you make a decision he's going to come over and ask you again about everything on the menu... The prices are so high for what you get. I wouldn't recommend this place.

The Hook is a very unassuming little cafe. Nothing fancy here. The owner is ready to help you with whatever you want to eat. The food is prepared when you get there. It is very tasty and good. We were there for lunch and we had scallops and shrimp in a butter base broth with spinach and seasoned with onion and parsley and spices. Very good - even though we ordered fried shrimp and scallops.

The food was absolutely delicious. I ate the crab and shrimp eggs Benedict and recommend it. The manager and chef was very friendly, chatting with all the customers who seemed to be regulars. The wait is a little long for the food because he's the only one in the kitchen, but completely worth it! Great meal and experience!

Do not let the appearance and location deter you from trying this place! I personally love local places and this place is one of the best local places I have ever tried. The owner Glen was an absolute pleasure to deal with! My wife and I both had different versions of seafood omelette and I was blown away on how delicious it was! The homemade hot sauce was perfect to go along with it! I truly felt at home in this place! I will go back to this place every single time I go to AC! If you are reading this, I want to emphasize this is a must try while in AC! You won't be disappointed, I promise! Glen thanks for a great experience !

Awesome food!! Owner even cooked for us lunch / dinner menu food when it is Sunday Brunch time. We had lobster cheesesteak and lobster roll. Both are fantastic. The lobster cheese steak is out of this world according to my husband. Highly recommended.

Glen can sure cook! The meal we had was spectacular - shrimp and scallops over linguine with a pesto, wine, and parmesan gravy that was fit for dipping.

Stopped in for lunch and was not disappointed. Chef Glen freshly ground meat to make a custom hamburger for my son, which he devoured. We also got pancakes. All the food was amazing. Well worth the trip!

The waitress has an attitude, extremely slooow, and no conception of time management. The food would be great if the waitress would have brought it to the table when it was hot. Only 7 tables in this hole, and there were no other people in front of us. No excuse to get cold food. Don't get stressed out here go to the Denny's down the road.

Amazing experience, made to order, so fresh, cook showed us the lamb before ordering, only two for the whole night! We are so glad we got here when we did!

This chef can cook you a meal that is out of this world. Plus he entertains you whist cooking as he has such a love and excitement for making and creating new food combinations. You can request anything you'd like -- no restrictions. He also makes and sells his own outstanding hot sauce. We absolutely love eating here at this quaint and cozy restaurant.

Completely fantastic experience! My fiancee and I had been having an awful vacation. We had got into a car accident and had our beach bag (including a cell phone) stolen in the span of a couple days. We had given up on having a good vacation entirely. The hook doesn't even look like a restaurant from the outside, so we weren't sure what to expect. When we walked in we received a warm welcome with huge smiles. Glen and the waitress talked and laughed with us, gave us some great local knowledge on things to do, and served the best dang omlettes we have ever had. The food was delicious, hot, and fresh. The atmosphere was cozy and homey. The people made you feel like family. It was the highlight of our vacation! If we're ever in the neighborhood again, we'll be back!
